The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) staff is committed to safe, clean, enjoyable creeks and rivers but we need YOU to help us protect and preserve natural resources for future generations. There are many ways you can get involved and Be River Proud! We want to highlight your positive actions so please share with us pictures or videos of you and your loved ones on social media using #BeRiverProud. Once a month, we’ll feature your stories on our blog.

Virtual Learning with the Education Team

The Education and Engagement Team at the River Authority has been hard at work delivering virtual presentations to local schools since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Even through a global pandemic, the team has found ways to bring nature and science to the classroom through grade-appropriate, science-driven activities that incorporate S.T.E.A.M. into the major themes of watersheds, ecosystems, and resource leadership.

This month, we bring you two classrooms that have participated in a virtual presentation and learned to #beriverproud!

First up, the students at Braun Station Elementary School! Thanks to educators like Rosey Gonzales, who signed up for a virtual presentation, her fifth graders connected with nature and learned about science themes including erosion. We appreciate Rosey’s feedback and agree with her, science is never cancelled!

Students at The Arc of San Antonio take part in a virtual classroom presentation by the River Authority's Education and Engagement team.

Virtual presentations also include topics on aquatic science like Freshwater Mussels as the students of The Arc of San Antonio learned during their virtual presentation. It’s wonderful when we receive online feedback like this Instagram post comment from @thearcofsa. We’re grateful these students are now River Proud!

You can #beriverproud too by learning about the resources provided by our Education and Engagement Team including curricula, presentations, and lessons. Visit the Education page for more!
