The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) relies on the expertise of its engineers, scientists, technical, and specialized staff to carry out the agency’s commitment to safe, clean, enjoyable creeks and rivers. While you may see our staff from Watershed & Parks Operations, , and our departments out in the field performing work throughout the , our agency also thrives thanks to the efforts of our Support Services staff who provide critical services that help support the River Authority’s financial, technological, and project management needs.

River Authority Real Estate Team
Real Estate Team Efforts
The River Authority’s Real Estate Department works within the agency’s Technical Services Division. The Real Estate team has a hand in many of the daily activity at the River Authority assisting in matters such as acquiring property and easements, selling surplus assets, consulting on projects, permitting land uses, leasing property, conducting plat reviews, coordinating with local developers, review and clear title, and maintaining all the River Authority’s many real estate assets. They also have the responsibility of coordinating with local developers to help ensure new developments along area creeks and rivers meet appropriate development standards.
The Real Estate team supports many of the River Authority’s larger departments to ensure they receive proper consultation when coordinating projects on property not owned by the River Authority. Real Estate staff regularly interfaces with the public to make sure that our constituents are kept knowledgeable of all project activities that may be impacting their property. As members of the , the members of the Real Estate Department are dedicated to ensuring that the property laws and rights of all constituents are respected and maintained whenever coordinating with the River Authority.
The staff in the Real Estate Department also works to ensure that any work conducted on property owned by the River Authority, which includes over 2,000 miles of navigable water ways, is properly protected and maintained in accordance with all current federal, state, and local laws and guidelines as well as River Authority policies. The Real Estate team also acquires property for new developments such as . For example, the Real Estate staff has pursued properties such as a recently acquired property along the Medina River that will be developed into our new Hendrick Arnold Park. This retired ranch, formally known as the Straus Medina property, consists of 83 beautiful acres along the Medina River in southwest Bexar County.
