The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) staff is committed to safe, clean, and enjoyable creeks and rivers. Still, we need YOU to help us protect and preserve area natural resources for future generations. There are many ways you can get involved and Be River Proud!

We want to highlight your positive actions, so please share pictures or videos of you and your loved ones on social media using #BeRiverProud. Once a month, we will feature your stories on our blog. With June being National Rivers Month, we want to highlight the many ways community members can utilize local hike and bike trails to get to know the San Antonio River. This month learn about two local running groups that enjoy gaining miles along the Museum Reach of the San Antonio River Walk, as well as a local runner that enjoys the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River Walk!

One group you’ll often find along the Museum Reach is the Downtown Run Group. The group’s motto, “Run Inspired”, is seen and felt through the many fun Instagram reels on their page. From running by the Alamo to running along the Museum Reach all the way to the Pearl, this group is well acquainted with the scenic routes in the heart of San Antonio.

On Monday nights, you’ll also find In The Loop Run Crew members along the Museum Reach trails. As mentioned on the crew’s Instagram page, In The Loop Run Crew is a “friendly and diverse group of people that all walk and run at different paces” and believe that “Every Run is a Good Run.”

Head further south along the San Antonio River, and you might run into Marty Perez. Marty enjoys documenting his running and biking routes, including passing by the public art along the Mission Reach. Marty says, “I love to make the videos to inspire others to walk, swim, bike, run, and start a journey to better health for the mind, soul, and body. Being on the trails definitely clears the mind! I bring my son Jacob on my runs, too. I want to be a healthy role model for him and his siblings.”
