The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) staff is committed to safe, clean, enjoyable creeks and rivers but we need YOU to help us protect and preserve area natural resources for future generations. There are many ways you can get involved and Be River Proud! We want to highlight your positive actions so please share with us pictures or videos of you and your loved ones on social media using #BeRiverProud. Once a month, we’ll feature your stories on our blog.
This month, we’re featuring a mom and son duo that spent a Spring Sunday on the San Antonio River. @dhyanayogamama (Instagram) and her son adventured out on the San Antonio River Walk - Mission Reach where there are many recreational activities like hiking, biking, and paddling!
Dhyana’s son and his Boy Scout Troop 307 took to the waters for the troop’s first paddling trip together. To earn a new merit badge, Boy Scout Troop 307, prepared by passing a swim test and learning about safety gear.
Geared up with helmets, life jackets, and excitement, the troop began their trail at Theo Avenue and ended at Mission Espada. “Even soaking wet, muddy and with tired arms, they were all laughing and planning for next time.” -Dhyana
For Dhyana, she took the opportunity to “stroll the beautiful paths along the river” to find mindful moments in nature.
You can find these zen like moments too by joining yoga sessions at San Pedro Creek Culture Park on Monday evenings. Then switch to a new scenic backdrop and join a yoga class sponsored by the San Antonio River Foundation on Sundays at Confluence Park.
Show us your river pride for a chance to be featured on our blog!
