Kayaking the River Walk Loop
Though we faced many challenges caused by the global pandemic, 2020 provided other rare opportunities. One such opportunity was the River Authority’s sponsorship of the San Antonio River Walk Association’s (SARWA) Kayaking the River Walk Event. For the first time in 35 years, the public was allowed to kayak the San Antonio River Walk “Paseo del Rio” every weekend in October and into the first weekend of November. This event provided so many special memories and some of the best pictures!
One event goer, IG @crystal_fullerfuller, shared her experience on Instagram. She writes, “Being born and raised in San Antonio, it was an extra special experience to see the River Walk so calm & peaceful. Today was one for the memory books!”
If you’re looking to take part in this special experience, you’re in luck! This event will be held 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays December 4 through January 31 (excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). There is a fee and reservations are required, so be sure to visit the SARWA page to purchase your tickets and don’t forget to share your pics and tag us on social media!
A few more spots to add to your list this holiday season are Museum Reach River of Lights and San Pedro Creek Culture Park!
@socializesanantonio provided this great view of the San Antonio River Lock & Dam Christmas Tree located at 510 Brooklyn Ave. The Christmas Tree includes two light shows with popular holiday music that will get you dancing right away! You can catch the first one every evening at 6:00 p.m. and will alternate shows every 30 minutes with the last one starting at 9:30 p.m.
The last day to enjoy the holiday lights at both locations is January 4, so make plans to stop by!
