Westside Creeks Ecosystem Restoration Project

Westside Creeks Ecosystem Restoration Project

The San Antonio River Authority is collaborating with the US Army Corps of Engineers to restore portions of the Westside Creeks, including portions of San Pedro, Apache, Alazan, and Martinez Creek. The River Authority will work with USACE to conduct a public process to design and construct improvements, including a bankfull channel to improve stream function and re-establishment of riparian meadow, forest, and slackwater wetlands.

The Westside Creeks Project is a community-based creek restoration effort started in 2008 by the San Antonio River Authority. Its mission is:

1. To develop and advance planning concepts for restoring the environmental condition of the Alazán, Apache, Martínez, and San Pedro Creeks

2. To enhance or maintain the current flood control components of these creeks

3. To provide increased opportunities for community enjoyment.
