Nicole Marshall

 

Nicole Marshall serves as Manager of the Public Affairs Department at the San Antonio River Authority, where she leads strategic communications, community engagement, and outreach initiatives that support the agency’s mission and regional impact. Since joining the River Authority more than five years ago, Nicole has demonstrated strong leadership growth, progressing from Brand and Communications Specialist to Public Affairs Officer and ultimately to Department Manager.

Nicole began her tenure supporting the San Pedro Creek Culture Park Project, where she played a key role in public outreach, media coordination, and stakeholder engagement for one of San Antonio’s most visible cultural and infrastructure projects. She later managed agency-wide events and public-facing initiatives before stepping into expanded leadership responsibilities within Public Affairs.

Prior to the River Authority, Nicole co-owned MADworks Ad Agency in McAllen, Texas for over 18 years. As a business owner and marketing strategist, she led multi-disciplinary teams and partnered with clients across diverse industries to deliver integrated marketing, public relations, digital media, and creative solutions. Her private-sector experience brings a results-driven, strategic lens to her public-sector leadership.

With more than 25 years of experience in marketing, communications, and public affairs, Nicole is known for building strong teams, fostering collaboration, and translating complex projects into clear, compelling narratives for the public. She has also served on multiple nonprofit boards, specializing in fundraising and community engagement.

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas–Pan American. She is a proud mother of three daughters and values time spent with family.

SASPAMCO Paddling Trail Temporarily Closed

Staff have removed two large log jams just downstream of Helton Nature Park, keeping the southern portion of the SASPAMCO Paddling Trail temporarily closed. Staff are working to contact adjacent landowners to support a land-based removal solution.

Goliad Paddling Trail Alert

NOTICE: HWY 59 Landing Site Closed

Due to TxDOT construction on the HWY 59 Bridge, the HWY 59 landing site is closed until further notice. However, the Goliad Paddling Trail remains open, and paddlers can still access the river at the Riverdale, Ferry Street, and Goliad State Park landings.

Please plan accordingly and check back for updates.
